We have a serious problem in this country — a low information problem. Few, if any, on the left really understand conservative arguments, history, economics — or any of the very big institutions that they are so anxious to completely make over in the image of a strong redistributionist state.
It’s a common thing to hear people testify to having been dyed in the wool left-wing ideologues before getting involved with a group of people who were subsequently lied about on liberal media outlets, or started to study history for the first time, or who studied economics for the first time — and became conservative.
It happens frequently after people come down off the exuberance of youth, form families, become parents, provide for a household and then truly begin to understand what it means to have one’s hard-earned wages stolen from them by the government. Of course, many don’t mind paying taxes, but they don’t want to see their money being used to fund abortions or interventionist wars of regime change or whatever else big Washington spenders get hung up on.
It’s really surprising how little information it takes to change a liberal into a conservative — but it goes to show just how poor public education really is. Listening to a few hours of Dan Carlin is a good start. A few days of Ben Shapiro works too.
But if you haven’t got time for that, Conservative Storage has got some tidy little bites of info like this summary of the Federalist papers by Mr. Shapiro. Enjoy.
