Too few people really understand the meaning of objective and subjective truth. This is not an accident. It is against the interests of the powerful for citizens to adhere to unwavering moral convictions.
Consider the average American. He or she will undoubtedly agree that theft is wrong, yet will not bat an eye when the government coercively takes a portion of their earnings. The average American will condemn murder, yet when the government sends troops into a foreign nation on a deceptively justified military errand, that same person will not complain. Likewise, far too many people believe that just because a thing is legal, it is morally permissible.
This is not a natural condition for people to be in. It is moral relativism. It is the notion that people with power can decide what is right and wrong, and that some people have different rights than others. It’s unAmerican, and it is part of how societies slowly degrade into chaos.
Here’s PragerU with more on the Left’s push to normalize more moral relativism.
