The Truth About the Koch Brothers and the Republican Party

For years, the billionaire Koch brothers have been two of GOP’s wealthiest supporters. For this reason, the Koch brothers have been demonized by the Democratic Party and defended by the GOP, causing many conservatives to assume that the Koch brothers are on their side. The truth, however, isn’t so black and white.

While the Koch brothers remain very supportive of GOP politicians, they are not very supportive of conservative ideals and policies. Among other things, the Koch brothers are in favor of open borders. In fact, the Koch brothers and their massive donations are largely to blame for why Rebulicans in Congress refuse to act on shoring up border security.

It isn’t just immigration where the Koch brothers and most conservatives disagree, though. In addition to fighting for open borders, the Koch brothers are also pushing the GOP to be softer on crime.

As the Republican Party’s most important donor, the efforts of the Koch brothers to push the GOP to the left on many issues are not without effect. Now, it’s past time for conservatives to realize that these two men are not the allies we might have hoped for. While their donations are undoubtedly useful, the demands that go along with those donations are unacceptable.
