Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is best known for being a socialist. In addition to being a socialist, though, Bernie Sanders is also an isolationist, meaning that he is very against US involvement in most foreign conflicts.
In a recent Tweet, Sanders expressed his dislike for America’s involvement in foreign conflicts while at the same time attempting to pander to veterans by saying, “If you can’t afford to take care of your veterans, then don’t go to war.”
As someone that has never served in the military, and as someone who is fighting to care for illegal immigrants over caring for our veterans, Sanders has very little room to speak on how veterans are treated in this country. One politician that does have the right to speak on this issue, though, is former Navy SEAL and current congressman Dan Crenshaw – who appeared on Fox News to blast Bernie Sanders over his ill-advised remarks.
In response to Sander’s Tweet, Crenshaw said, “I went there [to war] because our country needed it. We went there because it was in the best interest of our country. I wasn’t thinking down the road of being taken care of.”
Crenshaw himself added more to his tweet in the Fox News segment below.
