House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her Democratic colleagues claim that President Donald Trump is all alone in his fight for border security, saying that the crisis at the border is “manufactured” and saying that Trump does not have any real support on policies such as the border wall.
Recent polling, however, paints a very different picture. According to a Fox News poll, 61% of registered voters support Trump’s stance on border security, while 53% of registered voters support building a physical wall on the nation’s southern border.
Between telling studies on the economic impact of illegal immigration and countless new stories of illegal immigrants committing heinous crimes in the United States, the costs of illegal immigration have been too high to ignore for most voters. Nevertheless, the Democratic Party continues to oppose every effort Trump makes to improve border security. Much of this is more of an opposition to Trump himself than it is his policies, but the net result is still the same – Democrats continue to act as a roadblock on measures that a majority of Americans support.
