Antifa, the so-called “anti-fascists” that continually prove they are anything but that, is basically allowed to do what it wants when a city is run by a Democrat.
Last week, Antifa radicals attacked and maimed a conservative journalist — who is both gay and a racial minority — and CNN and its acolytes spent the rest of the day either downplaying the incident or not covering it at all. Make no mistake: if a gang of white nationalists surrounded and beat a black man to within an inch of his life, it would dominate the news cycle for a week. And, it probably should — the KKK is terrible, and so is everyone else who believes in dumb things like racial supremacy or authoritarian government.
In Portland, police were given orders to stand down as far-left demonstrators ravaged everything around them. This is reminiscent of similar occurrences in places like Berkeley, California. The reason why isn’t hard to figure out. Clearly, the mayors of these large, progressive cities are sympathetic to Antifa and what it stands for. They hate President Donald Trump and anyone who even kind of supports him.
But what we’ve seen in Portland may be the worst of example of municipal government incompetence since the Antifa movement became a household name. This is more than willful ignorance. This is a radical movement effectively being empowered to exercise its will as it sees fit.
