One of the most important voting demographics in the United States is the evangelical Christian. Fortunately for Trump, this is a demographic that the President seems to have on lockdown. In fact, evangelicals are now supporting President Trump in record numbers.
To be clear, Trump isn’t exactly an ideal figure in the eyes of Christian evangelicals, as he himself is a far cry from being a morally righteous example of a Christian leader. With that said, though, Trump is a President who is willing to stand up and fight for religious freedom, pushing back against those on the left who are battling to eliminate religion from our country entirely, and persecute American Christians in the name of “equality.”
President Trump may not be the ideal model of a perfect Christian, but he is a secure port in a very powerful storm. That alone, it would seem, is enough to guarantee Trump an overwhelming amount of evangelical support. Now, President Trump is hoping to turn record evangelical support into a 2020 victory.
