Campus Political Correctness Edges on Clinical Insanity

Does political correctness breed insanity? That’s what Ben Shapiro thinks.

The Daily Wire founder and editor believes that extreme political correctness is causing actual insanity. When Shapiro went to the University of Utah to speak before conservative students, he was met with protests and threats of violence. According to Shapiro, he had heard that already there was violence, and people were trying to bring weapons to the lecture.

How far is the left going to go to silence differing ideas? Apparently, very far.

Despite the First Amendment guaranteeing freedom of speech, protesters tried to shut down Shapiro’s lecture. An ABC News reporter spoke with Sean Taylor, the leader of the protesters who stated emphatically.

“I don’t believe he should speak,” Taylor said. When the reporter asked about the Amendment, Taylor responded, “I don’t care…I don’t think it’s a relevant document right now.”

Since when has the United States Constitution not been a relevant document? Apparently, when the radical left thinks it shouldn’t apply, at least to people whom they don’t agree with. Shapiro has received 7,400 antisemitic tweets, death threats on his home and business phone, and death threats in the mail, just for having a conservative view.

Shapiro is Jewish, proudly wearing his yarmulke, which makes the protesters’ statements that he is fascist and a Nazi completely unbelievable. He is also against the alt-right, calling them a “garbage movement,” is highly critical of Trump, and quit Breitbart News when a female colleague was manhandled by Trump’s campaign manager. None of this apparently matters to the protesters who are quick to associate him with the same people Shapiro is highly critical of. It is indeed political correctness gone amok.
