One of the biggest reasons why the United States is currently facing an immigration crisis is the fact that far-left governments continue to incentivize illegal immigration through government benefits and programs offered to illegal immigrants.
Rather than helping immigrants, these benefits and programs only encourage them to make the dangerous and illegal journey to the United States. Now, California is set to incentivize illegal immigration even more than the state already has by unveiling a new healthcare plan for illegal immigrants.
A variety of plans are being floated around by various elements of the California government, but they are all costly. The state assembly in California, for example, wants to provide health insurance to all illegal immigrants over the age of nineteen at a cost of over $3 billion.
The plans put forth by Gov. Newsom and the California State Senate are less expensive, but will still cost California taxpayers millions of dollars.
At a time when we are losing control of the situation at the border, these far-left officials continue to create incentives for illegal immigrants, harming both those immigrants and their own citizens in the process.
