America’s Border Control System is Collapsing
According to House Democrats, the crisis at the border is nothing more than a ploy by the Trump Administration to spread fear and fire up the Republican voter base. According to the border patrol agents on the front lines of our border security, though, the crisis is all too real.
As border patrol agents are tasked with processing and caring for an unprecedented amount of asylum seekers, their resources are being spread incredibly thin. Without the proper funding and legislation from Congress, our border patrol agents are finding it increasingly difficult to do all that is asked of them.
Now, strained by historic numbers of asylum seekers and illegal immigrants, our border patrol system is collapsing. Our detention centers are full, our border patrol agents are stretched too thin, and our national security is severely compromised.
Since taking office, President Trump has done everything in his power to bolster our nation’s border security. What is needed, though, is for Congress to take action on this issue as well. On his own, the President can only go so far. Unfortunately, Congress has been unwilling to even recognize the crisis at the border, sitting idly by while this crisis spirals more and more out of control.
