Hollywood is nothing if not full of deeply disingenuous hypocrites, particularly when it comes to their supposed values versus the actions they take. Hollywood celebs claim to oppose rape culture and elevate women, then it is revealed an entire industry protects predators like Harvey Weinstein. All too often, these self-appointed elites lecture middle America, and claim their liberal values lead to diversity and inclusion.
In the real world where the rest of us live, it is all too obvious that Hollywood is an insular culture where intellectual diversity is shunned and the so-called Hollywood elite live in gated communities. The list of Hollywood hypocrisy is seemingly endless, but Rob Reiner was all too happy to add a bit more fuel to the dumpster fire that is Hollywood’s moral standing.
In his interview with Tucker Carlson, Reiner reveals just how disingenuous the manufactured outrage over Trump’s involvement with Russia truly is. Tucker lays out the “deeply disingenuous” nature of Reiner’s views, in part by highlighting Hollywood’s silence on China’s human rights abuses. Could it be, Tucker opines, that Hollywood is silent because it wants to sell movies in China?
The interview is more than worth the watch if only to watch Reiner squirm as he tries to laugh his way out of the obviously hypocritical stance he holds. Tucker masterfully exposes the logical inconsistency as Reiner struggles with the cognitive dissonance that quickly takes hold of him in real time.
