What’s it’s Like to Be an Arab in the Israeli Army

This is definitely something you won’t see on CNN any time soon…

The State of Israel consistently finds itself at odds with hostile forces, many of which reside just outside its borders. Radical Palestinians and other Arab groups have made the case that Israel itself is a purveyor of institutional racism, and is thus favorable to ethnic Israelis over the many Arabs that also live in the country.

This myth completely crumbles when you examine the life and story of Mohammad Kabiya, who served his country in the Israeli Defense Force as an Air Force reservist.

In the video below, Kabiya himself explains why he prefers the Israeli government to the Palestinian movements, despite his own Arab backgrounds. According to Kabiya, Israel is unique in that it respects individual liberty and diversity — something he says the local Arab states don’t do.

Kabiya continues to talk about his life as a student in Israel, and his conflicts with those who have called him a traitor to his own culture. Watch the full video below.
