As if the country needed any more reason to believe that the House impeachment inquiry is nothing more than a politically motivated witch hunt, House Democrats have made it all the more obvious by creating an impeachment process that shrouded in secrecy and closed off to House Republicans. This impeachment process is more than just an insult to the principles our country was founded on, though – it’s also a highly dangerous precedent that is being set.
Impeachment was never meant to be a political tool. However, desperate to see President Donald Trump removed from office no matter the cost, House Democrats have turned impeachment into a weapon. By excluding Republicans from the impeachment process, Democrats are able to strategize about the best way to use impeachment as a political tool to either remove Trump from office or hurt his chances of winning the 2020 election.
Turning impeachment into a political tool like Democrats have done, though, is a dangerous precedent. Fairly elected presidents are meant to serve their full term, and it certainly isn’t the House’s place to decide otherwise. House Democrats, though, apparently feel that removing Trump from office is worth any cost.
