Religious Leaders Say Border Walls are Perfectly Moral

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s fight against President Donald Trump and his efforts to fund a wall to protect our southern border continues. In addition to negotiating with Trump behind closed doors, Pelosi is also trying to sway public opinion in her favor by deeming a border wall “immoral”.

Pelosi cannot argue against the effectiveness of a border wall, nor can she argue against it from an economic standpoint. Instead, she is reduced to make illogical emotional appeals. Claiming that a border wall is immoral makes zero sense, yet it tugs at the heart of Pelosi’s supporters and rallies them to her cause.

The truth is that protecting its citizens is the number one responsibility of any government. For the United States to place the needs of other people ahead of its own citizens is both immoral and destructive. Building a wall at the border to keep out those who would do us harm and wreck our economy is no more immoral than locking the door of your house at night in order to protect your family. It is possible to help those who genuinely need help without offering an open invitation to everyone.

Nancy Pelosi knows this, though. Her primary goal remains opposing President Trump, and keeping him from fulfilling his most important campaign promise is just one way to go about that objective. Her moral arguments hold no water, yet, unfortunately, they remain effective in the realm of public opinion where emotions are placed above all else.
