Is ‘Star Wars’ Becoming Left-Wing Propaganda?
“Search your feelings, you know it to be true!”
When Darth Vader shouted these words at a disarmed (handed?) Luke Skywalker in 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back, Hollywood’s most infamous antihero was effectively begging the protagonist to come to grips with the most uncomfortable truth he could possibly imagine: that his father was none other than the worst person in the galaxy.
Now, as we’re weeks away from Disney’s release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, many fans of the immortalized series are finding themselves searching their own feelings on the new direction of the franchise.
While the protagonists in the original and prequel trilogies were consistently shown struggling to meet the challenges presented to them, the diversified cast in 2015’s The Force Awakens showed the Nazi-like villains being tossed aside with ease.
Is there an underlying political message here? Or, are we simply reading too much into one of the most iconic fiction works of all time? The Rebel Media doesn’t seem to think so — and their position is explained in the video below.
