Is Intersectionality the Biggest Problem in America?
The idea that the group is ultimately more important than the individual is a cornerstone of leftist thought. Intersectionality and identity politics are both the alters at which the left worships and essential components of their worldview. However, intersectionality may also be one of the biggest threats our society has ever faced.
Intersectionality leads to the exact opposite outcome of what civil rights heroes such as Martin Luther King fought for. Rather than being judged by the content of their character, intersectionality dictates that it is more important to judge people based off of the group that they belong to.
If a person belongs to a group that is supposedly marginalized and systematically oppressed such as the LGBTQ community, intersectionality grants them special privileges and rights. Meanwhile, if they belong to a group that is supposedly responsible for the systematic oppression – such as white men – intersectionality dictates that they should be held responsible for the supposed wrongdoings of their group.
The world that intersectionality creates is one where everyone fights to claim victim status in order to be on the benefiting end of intersectionality, and identity politics while also harboring ill will toward anyone outside of their group. Suffice it to say that this is not a recipe for a productive, long-lasting society.
