Democratic politicians continue to make the same mistake over and over again — they assume that the entire population of the United States is a monoculture, when nothing could be further from the truth.
Most Americans don’t feel the same way about President Donald Trump — or anything, really — as people living in Washington, DC do. There is a very clear divergence in values depending on where in the country you are. And, as a general rule, rural Americans prefer to be spared from the heavy hand of government — which is why they tend to support Republicans.
But people who live in the urban bubble — which includes almost everyone on Capitol Hill — don’t see it that way. They see the way their “trusted” news sources like CNN, the Washington Post, and the New York Times cover the Trump Administration, and assume that everyone generally agrees with that perspective. But, they don’t…and one Democratic representative just learned this the hard way.
There’s no doubt that Michigan’s Rep. Elissa Slotkin assumed her constituents would be fully onboard with her party’s push to impeach President Donald Trump…which is why she was so surprised when she found out how they really feel.
Here’s Tim Pool with more on the story.
