Trump Defends Reallocating Military Funds to Build Border Wall

Ever since he first announced his intention to run for President, securing our nation’s southern border has been Donald Trump’s number one priority. Ever since Trump took office, though, preventing him from making good on this objective has been the number one priority of the Democratic party.

After years of battling with Congressional Democrats over funding for the border wall, Trump finally took matters into his own hands and bypassed Congress to secure funding by reallocating military funds to build the wall.

Naturally, most Democrats aren’t too happy about this move. While the Democratic Party cares very little about the strength of our military and the funding that they receive, they do care very much about obstructing President Trump. Now, Trump has been forced to defend his decision to use military funding for the border wall on countless occasions.

Fortunately for the President, it’s a very easy position to defend. Our borders play a vital role in our national security, and securing them is just as much of an important goal for the US military as any foreign operation that we might engage in. In the end, border security is national security, and using military finds to secure the border is not at all an overreach of presidential power.
