Recently, the White House released a detailing their efforts to push a number of conservative policies it wants to see in the bill intended to stabilize ObamaCare.
The document describes the Trump administration’s support for funding cost-sharing reductions (CSRs), which are controversial ObamaCare payments. President Donald Trump canceled the ObamaCare payments last October.
The stabilization bill was designed to reduce the cost of premiums, and could be included in a larger upcoming government funding bill required by to pass byMarch 23 to prevent another government shutdown. However, lawmakers from both the Republican and Democratic parties are still locked in stagnant negotiations.
One of the administration’s requests is creating a law to allow short-term plans. Another request is to determine the cost of premiums partially based on the age of the individual. Republicans believe that this would encourage younger and healthier people to buy insurance plans.
The third change requested by the White House is to expand HSAs, or health savings accounts. Finally, the document stressed the importance of protecting life.
