According to the House Intelligence Committee, there is no evidence that members of the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians after a year of looking into the matter. They also disputed the claim that Russia had a preference for Trump during the 2016 presidential election.
Despite objections from the committee Democrats, the House Intelligence Committee are bringing the investigation to an end.
The House Intelligence Committee released a 150-page report of its findings. A senior Republican on this panel claimed that the public needs to know of the results of the investigation because Americans are already beginning to vote in midterm elections. The committee has spoken to 73 witnesses and reviewed hundreds of thousands of documents.
According to Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Texas, the probe was exhaustive but ultimately found no conclusive proof that the Russians and any members of the Trump campaign actively colluded to influence American voters in the 2016 presidential election.
Lawmakers had been reporting that the committee interview with Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former campaign manager, was likely to be the last interview that the House Intelligence Committee would conduct when it comes to the Russia probe, which began last March.
However, committee Democrats were stunned upon hearing that the Republican Party staffers had already created a draft of a report on the investigation. The committee Democrats had expected to be included in the process.
