Google, Facebook, and Twitter Just Got a Warning They Can’t Ignore
Given that just a handful of companies now control the vast majority of information that most Americans see online, it becomes their responsibility to ensure that they deliver that information in a way that is fair, honest, and unbiased. This is a duty, however, that companies such as Google, Facebook, and Twitter have been failing miserably at upholding – and President Trump is taking notice.
During a recent Oval Office meeting, the president issued yet another warning to these companies, saying that they were “treading on very troubled territory” and that they “had better be careful.” Trump explained that the White House is receiving thousands of complaints from conservatives who have been banned, silenced, and suppressed on these platforms simply for promoting viewpoints that disagreed with the far-left ideologies that dominate the culture at these companies.
Should the White House decide to step in and put an end to this censorship through government regulation – which is something they certainly have the power to do – the consequences for Google, Facebook, and Twitter could be severe. Trump is obviously no fan of government regulation, which is likely why he has left these companies alone thus far, but if his recent warnings are any indication, the president is near reaching his breaking point.
