Environmentalists Blame Sandwiches for Global Warming (Yes, Really…)

The controversy over whether or not global warming exists isn’t the topic at hand here. Instead, this video explains why some environmentalists are convinced that meat and sandwiches are currently making the problem worse. This segment of “The Five” features several analysts talking over this outrageous claim.

The correlation between global warming and meat came from scientists at the University of Manchester. Their findings discovered the environmental damage of eating one breakfast sandwich with sausage and bacon along with eggs and cheese was similar to driving 12 miles. The group of analysts on “The Five” believes, though, that unlike other things, Americans will draw the line when it comes to their meat. They are not going to stand idly by for a meat tax.

Apparently, the problem with meat and sandwiches has to do with how it’s processed and packaged. This has led to it being vilified as a culprit for global warming and has made it a focus of study for environmentalists. Trying to understand the reasoning behind such studies is difficult.

Suffice it to say that liberal environmentalists are always looking for something or someone else they can blame for ruining the environment. Meat and sandwiches are just the latest victims.

Some fear the end result of such thinking by environmentalists and scientists could cause the creation of a “meat tax” — much like the sin tax on alcohol and cigarettes. Another analyst talks about how he heard a story about a restaurant that charged for plastic straws due to their negative impact on the environment.

This, of course, is a real example of where this whole meat issue might end up. Hopefully not, though.
