HBO Forced to CANCEL Left-wing Vice News Program

In another blow to digital-based media aimed largely at left-wing millennials, HBO has announced that it will no longer be airing Vice News.

Once seen as an edgy alternative to traditional broadcast news, Vice News billed itself as the “CNN of the street.” Reporters for the network famously travel to unsafe locations and perform on the ground coverage. The project was once celebrated as representing the future of news media.

But, there was another side to Vice — the side readers here are probably more familiar with. The Vice brand today is associated less with courageous reporting, and more with segments and clickbait puff pieces that nobody asked for. Topics often include strange sexual cultures, drug use, and whatever the left-wing flavor of the week is. Individuals who once worked for Vice often cite this as the reason for the company’s downfall.

HBO’s dropping of Vice News is the latest development in a bleak trend for digital media. Not long ago, the left-wing website Huff Post was forced to axe its entire op-ed department. More recently, employees for Vox staged a walkout over what they called unfair pay. Clearly, millennial-driven digital media is having a hard time paying the bills.

It’s perhaps best to hear this story from one of the people that helped pioneer the Vice business model in the first place.
