The GOP’s Secret Weapon to Win Elections

One of the biggest advantages that Democrats have over the GOP is their ability to consistently win the minority vote. So far, Republicans have had a difficult time connecting with and reaching out to minority voters. However, the GOP has finally found a policy that may begin to turn the tide – the policy of school choice.

While over 50% of white Democrats are opposed to school choice and charter schools – and the Democratic party platform is opposed to it as well – the majority of non-white Democratic voters are in favor of charter schools and school choice. This should come as no surprise given that the public education system has failed minorities more than it has failed anyone else in the United States. Those who have experienced the shortcomings of public education first-hand are looking for a better alternative – and it is the Republican Party that is offering it to them.

Whether or not this will be enough to make a dent in the left’s highly successful identity politics strategy is yet to be seen. However, even swaying just a small percentage of minority voters to vote for the GOP due to their stance on school choice would be a major victory.
