As socialism continues to enjoy a growing presence in U.S. politics, those who don’t wish to see the United States follow the path of Venezuela and every other failed socialist country have reason to be concerned.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, however, is attempting to put these concerns to rest by promising that no socialist legislation will ever be so much as brought to a vote so long as he remains the majority leader.
In one of the more entertaining lines to come out of the Senate in recent times, McConnell even went as far as to refer to himself as the “grim reaper of socialism.” One can only hope that he is very serious about this claim.
Socialism presents a threat to our country unlike any other. While the United States has been engaged in fighting socialism ever since the end of WWII, this is the first point in history that the U.S. has been forced to combat socialism on the homefront. In this all-important war for the future of our country, we desperately need politicians such as McConnell who promise to fight socialism down to their dying breath.
