There are plenty of reasons people have long been concerned about the future of artificial intelligence (AI). However, the fact that they would be programmed to be crazy social justice warriors probably never crossed anyone’s mind.
With Amazon’s ever-popular assistant Alexa, that’s exactly what you get. Unlike many other digital assistants that will point you to online resources about a certain topic, Alexa has been programmed to have opinions — and she’s not afraid to share them.
So, what exactly are the social and political views of Amazon’s Alexa? It’s unsurprising to see that they are very much in-line with the social and political views of the company that created her. In short, Alexa believes that Jesus Christ was a fictional character, communism isn’t so bad, and that there are more than two genders.
If the fact that having an Alexa in your home means that the device will constantly be listening to everything you say isn’t enough to persuade you not to buy one, perhaps the device’s obviously liberal programming will be.
