Why Social Justice Warriors Dominate the Tech Industry

Quick — imagine that you’re visiting Silicon Valley, perhaps walking around at the headquarters of Facebook, Google, or Twitter. You’re stepping past the offices, and maneuvering between crowds of people. What does everyone look like?

Now, we’re not saying there is a right or wrong answer here — but let’s just say stereotypes aren’t always a complete accident.

Silicon Valley has a defined image in our cultural lexicon. Companies are staffed by young employees with big ideas and big opinions about the world. But these opinions aren’t exactly diverse. In fact, this isn’t so much of a stereotype as much as it is an observation from the very people that run the place. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey essentially confirmed this to U.S. senators when he talked about how Silicon Valley is basically a liberal monoculture.

As we said, stereotypes aren’t accidents. They are, at least initially, observations of characteristics or behaviors seen more than once in a particular social group. But, how exactly did this happen? Why is Silicon Valley dominated by leftist progressives? To what extent are conservative views shunned or shamed out of existence?

These are questions CRTV’s Gavin McInnes had for conservative firebrand Ann Coulter in the video below.
