Washington Post Knocks Ben Shapiro For Pro-Life Speech
In January, conservative superstar Ben Shapiro is set to appear as a keynote speaker for the March for Life – a pro-life demonstration intended to rally against abortion in the United States. While there are a number of reasons why Shapiro is the perfect keynote speaker for the event — such as the fact that he has effectively debated against abortion for his entire career and the fact that his celebrity status may draw a lot of new eyes to the March for Life — one writer for the Washington Post isn’t too pleased with Shapiro’s upcoming appearance.
The entire crux of the writer’s argument is that Shapiro’s other partisan views will alienate any Democrats who might otherwise be drawn to the movement. The problem with this argument is that there are barely any pro-life Democrats left.
Across the board, Democrats are radically in favor of abortion. Worrying that Ben Shapiro is too conservative to headline a pro-life event is like worrying that Donald Trump is too conservative to headline an event opposing illegal immigration. The vast majority of those who support the March for Life are also going to support Ben Shapiro and his positions. As for the rare handful of pro-life Democrats who might be in attendance, we can only hope that their reasons for opposing abortion run much deeper than who is speaking at the March for Life.
