U.S. Drops Record Number of Bombs on Taliban in Afghanistan
While Republicans and Democrats were fighting it out over who had the best top secret memo to declassify, the U.S. Armed Forces continued their fight against terrorism.
According to Fox News, U.S. military war planes recently dropped as many as 24 laser-guided bombs on Taliban targets in northern Afghanistan, setting a new record. The airstrike comes as U.S.-led coalition forces continue to mark notable progress in fights against radical Islamic groups throughout the middle east, particularly ISIS in Iraq.
Despite this progress, Defense Secretary James Mattis appears to be turning his sights away from terror groups and toward major world powers — namely China and Russia. In a move that boldly throws the idea that the Trump administration enjoys special support from the Kremlin into doubt, Mattis proclaimed that Russia and China each represent greater threats to world peace than terrorism.
