When the so-called “Yellow Vest” demonstrations began in France, it seemed like no mainstream media outlets from any country were sure how to handle them.
Was this a right-wing or left-wing movement? Are the demonstrators just angry about some arbitrary fuel tax, or is the ire targeted at something more foundational? And ultimately, was this a uniquely French phenomenon?
Well, at least one of those questions has been answered recently as protesters donning the same yellow vests seen on the streets of Paris were seen heckling Parliament in London. Apparently, this is a European phenomenon, and the global elites that run the continent from the top down are starting to take notice.
Considering the protests were so intense that even French President Emanuel “Jupiter” Macron was forced to make some concessions, Members of Parliament who have been sluggish to implement the will of the people democratically expressed in 2016 are starting to see the writing on the wall. Suddenly, a “no deal Brexit” seems like a distinct possibility.
Now, unlike the demonstrations (which are ongoing) seen in France, protesters in Britain are being far more specific about what they want: and that’s what they already voted for nearly 3 years ago.
