America is screwed. We’re supposed to be living in a democracy — actually a democratic republic to be more precise. But the media is absolutely dedicated to distorting the truth and misinforming the voting public. And they’re doing a damned good job.
The problem is a very old one, actually. It’s that so many people are willing to take their news on faith. They simply trust that if it’s reported on a major news network like CNN, then it’s just got to be credible. People who think that way are dupes and they’re a problem. What’s worse is that there are a lot of people who don’t even care if what they choose to believe is right — they only care that the national conversation is such that they can seem credible while holding a given opinion.
In other words, they don’t even care whether or not President Trump is actually a racist (for example), it’s good enough for them that Don Lemon says so. That is to say, they’ll lie to themselves and everyone around them as long as they have enough cultural cover. It’s truly sick.
This makes it possible for organizations to deal in lies with few consequences. It makes it possible for people to believe that the SPLC is actually doing good work and can be trusted. People have no clue that this group has been totally discredited by the FBI and DOJ. But the public doesn’t know that because CNN won’t report it.
