The Simple Reason Why Everyone Should Stand for the Anthem
Black American athletes are doing nothing more than undermining their own push for equality by taking a knee for the national anthem, and this video by Prager University perfectly explains why.
Presented by recording artist Joy Villa, who has publicly sang the anthem during sporting events in the past, the video breaks down the arguments which fueled the infamous protests — which have done little more than cause the NFL’s ratings to plummet.
The problem with protesting the national anthem, according to Villa, is twofold. First, she says, the prevailing narrative that blacks are routinely oppressed by law enforcement simply doesn’t add up when the facts are examined. Second, black athletes are hurting their cause by lashing out against a symbol of unity.
Of course, these are arguments conservatives have been making since former 49ers back-up quarterback Colin Kaepernick began the protests by taking a knee. However, Prager U’s unique way of breaking down the argument so that even the most virulent leftist can understand it is nothing short of applaudable.
