In an effort to broaden their base and garner more votes, the left has made alliances with a wide range of groups – from feminists to socialists to illegal immigrants. By and large, these groups are able to coexist with one another fairly well under the same political banner. However, there are two groups that the left has brought under its wing which cannot coexist together – Islam and the LGBT community.
While there are plenty of Muslims who are least tolerant of homosexuality, there is no getting around the fact that Islam commands homosexuality to be punishable by death – and many Muslims take this commandment very seriously.
The Muslim countries that the left is increasingly standing up on behalf of are the same countries responsible for stoning homosexual men and women to death and throwing them off of buildings on a regular basis. The Islamic ideologies that the left has embraced and claims that our culture should support come from the same texts that command homosexuals to be executed. At the same time that those on the left berate religions such as Christianity for saying that homosexuality is a sin, they warmly embrace a religion under which the punishment for homosexuality is death.
The combined alliance between the left, the LGBT community, and Islam is an unholy alliance and one that is doomed to fail.
