The Democratic Party has long relied on the militant support of its followers. Throughout its history, it has projected power in the United States through intimidation and fear — a tactic that dates back to the immediate aftermath of the Civil War.

If you take a look at the current political conversation in the U.S. today, and you’ll see not much has changed. The biggest difference, it seems, is that Democrats have traded in their white robes for black hoods.
