The Democratic Party’s Divide Just Deepened Even Further

At the same time that the Republican Party is finally starting to unify behind President Donald Trump and his policies, the Democratic Party is struggling to find their own sense of unity.

Since the 2016 election, there has been a war going on to determine the future direction of the party, and, right now, neither side is clearly winning.

The progressive wing of the Democratic Party — led by far-left politicians and socialist Democrats such as Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — is in a struggle with the party’s more moderate old guards such as Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and others. Both sides are pushing for radically different views of what the party should be, and both sides are creating a severe lack of unity in the process.

According to many experts, it could be this lack of unity that hurts Democrats the most in 2020. It already hurt them in 2016 when many Bernie Sanders supporters refused to come out and support Hillary Clinton in the general election. Since then, though, the fight for control of the Democratic Party has only grown more intense, and, as the famous saying goes, a house that is divided cannot stand.

One America News has more on the great Democratic divide below.
