The Challenge with DACA and Addressing Illegal Immigration

After President Trump told Congress to address DACA and provide a permanent solution, they have allowed several months to pass and have yet to reach a resolution. After the president’s recent meeting with lawmakers, it’s clear the Democrats aren’t willing to budge at all.

The primary problem with the DACA program is that it was an executive order from former President Obama, and it was never made into law by Congress. As a result, the program was designed to expire after a set time period.

Congress is now facing a challenge due to differences between party lines and their goals. A key requirement set by Republican lawmakers is that it must come with better border enforcement and the construction of a border wall. Democratic lawmakers want to prevent construction of a border wall, which is leading both parties to disagree about the way to handle illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States as minors.

Addressing illegal immigration is a primary goal of the Trump Administration, but it is also a challenge due to the pressure to allow illegal immigrants to obtain legal status without going through the normal processes. Lawmakers will need to make a decision about the program to start addressing the problems with illegal immigration and the interests of the American people.

The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro recently gave us his take on the issue, and explained why it appears Democrats are willing to use it as a club to beat the administration into submission.
