When Americans voted in the 2018 midterm elections, it looked like the Democratic Party had finally re-captured the momentum it lost in 2016. With President Donald Trump enjoying almost universally negative news coverage, the outlook looked bleak for Republican incumbents.
Just under a year later, however, many political analysts just don’t see a path forward for the Democrats. Over 20 Democrats have thrown their hat into the ring to run against President Trump, and almost none of them appear viable.
There’s a reason why former Vice President Joe Biden is dominating in the polls against his Democratic rivals for the party’s nomination. He is the only one that carries any real name recognition aside from Vermont’s Senator Bernie Sanders — and isn’t presenting himself as an all-out socialist.
That said, Biden just isn’t a passion candidate in the same way President Trump continues to be. Despite his status as an incumbent, Trump has managed to spin the negative news coverage and stiff opposition in Congress in a way that effectively portrays him to be a potential agent of change.
But the Democrats have other problems. Tim Pool identities the worst one in the video below.
