Since WWII, two main economic systems have been competing for dominance on the world stage: capitalism and socialism. During that time, the United States has served as a powerful example of just how effective capitalism can be. Meanwhile, countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, and others have shown just how destructive socialism can be.
In spite of these examples, though, many in the US are now pushing for the country to adopt a socialist government. So, in the battle between capitalism vs socialism, which one wins out?
It certainly isn’t a close contest if you look at historical examples, as no purely socialist country has ever succeeded, much less thrived, for any extended period of time. If you compare the two on moral grounds, socialism still comes in a distant second. It’s often said of socialism that it’s a good idea in theory but a terrible idea in practice. Socialism, however, is just as terrible in theory as it is in practice. Robbing from someone in order to redistribute their wealth to others is still morally wrong even if they are rich and even if it’s done in the name of socialism.
In every single way imaginable, capitalism dominates socialism in terms of both fairness and effectiveness. To learn more about how and why capitalism is such a better system, be sure to check out the video below.
