Tax Returns Show that Democrats Aren’t Very Charitable

In preparation for what is sure to be a big Democratic talking point during the 2020 election, Democratic Presidential hopefuls have already begun ramping up the tired old narrative regarding President Donald Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns. However, these same Democrats may have wanted to think twice about releasing their own tax returns as well, given that the information these tax returns expose isn’t all that helpful for their image.

It turns out that the Democrats who are hoping to challenge Trump for the Presidency in 2020 aren’t all that charitable. When you consider the fact that all of these candidates are very wealthy individuals, the pitiful amount they donated to charity last year becomes all the more revealing.

While many 2020 Democratic Presidential hopefuls are fine with redistributing other people’s money through socialism, they certainly don’t seem very enthused about giving their own money away to the poor. This hypocrisy has always been the Achille’s heel of socialism – the powerful retain and grow their wealth while everyone else suffers in poverty. If Democrats hope to even begin convincing the American people that their version of socialism will be different, they are going to have to start putting their money where their mouths are.
