Smugglers are now Advertising to Illegal Immigrants

In spite of our weak border security, crossing the United States border without being caught still remains a challenge for illegal immigrants – not nearly as much of a challenge as it should be, but a challenge nonetheless. In order to cross over undetected, most illegal immigrants rely on paying professional smugglers and human traffickers to get them across the border.

Smuggling illegal immigrants across the US border has become a booming business in Central America – so much so that professional smugglers are now advertising their services to illegal immigrants through underground channels in immigrant communities. In addition to advertising their services, these smugglers are also broadcasting advice about the best way to cross the border. One of most critical pieces of advice that they are giving out is for illegal immigrants to bring a child with them so they will be released if they are caught by border security.

There’s no way for us to control the actions of smugglers in Central America. The only thing we can do is make their job impossible through measures such as the border wall while also removing the incentives for immigrants to come over into the nation illegally. Until we accomplish these things, though, the smuggling and human trafficking industry in Central America will continue to flourish.
