Hollywood is in a precarious state – it seems as though all of the creativity has seeped away from the major TV and movie studios. As of late, the best these guys can come up with is a bunch of rehashed stuff from the late 90s. Who’s the target audience, you say? All of the liberals who were teens during the 90s who still can’t get jobs with their awesome women’s studies degrees.
Roseanne is one of these figureheads from the past that we need to look out for. The original Roseanne was a liberal show in a conservative coating. It had all of the trappings of the family next door, but the PC nature of the dialogue gave it away if you listened closely. This new Roseanne is no different.
Forget the rhetoric on late night talk – that is what all actors do to promote their shows.
This is not to say that Roseanne Barr isn’t funny as an actress. If you have extra time and you want to join your unemployed liberal friends to watch the show, go right ahead. Just realize that you are not watching anything that is supposed to be a reflection of your life.
The actors you see and the scriptwriters you hear in that show are all entertainment professionals who need work just like the rest of us. The new Roseanne is nothing but a cash grab that is playing off of conservative values in order to make money.
