Senator Lindsey Graham Takes on the Department of Justice

According to a shocking report from former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein and other high-ranking officials within the DOJ met behind closed doors to discuss the possibility of removing President Trump from office via the 25th Amendment.

Per the 25th Amendment, a sitting President can be removed from office if both the Vice President and a majority of the President’s cabinet vote that the President is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” This language has been interpreted to mean that the President must be found to be physically or mentally unfit to serve before the 25th Amendment is applicable.

Removing Trump from office via the 25th Amendment when there is no evidence that he is physically or mentally unfit to serve, though, is both highly illegal and a serious threat to our democracy. Now, Sen. Lindsey Graham has promised that a Congressional investigation into McCabe’s claims is forthcoming. If it is found to be true that Rosenstein and other members of the DOJ actively colluded to remove Trump from office, the consequences could be severe.
