New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a freshman lawmaker in Congress. However, the 29-year-old former bartender has effectively made herself the thought leader of the Democratic Party and the progressive movement.
So, what she says matters — for better or for worse. In a sense, she’s more powerful than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has quickly fallen out of favor with the American left. To be clear, this started long before the Speaker actually came out against impeaching President Donald Trump. Pelosi was old news a long time ago. The last thing radical progressives want is a white person being in charge. Because that’s deeply important for some reason.
When Rep. Ocasio-Cortez isn’t ripping her own party apart, she’s attacking America’s legacy itself. President Ronald Reagan is certainly more popular with Republicans than with Democrats, but most Americans remember him fondly as the leader who presided over an incredibly economic boom along with the collapse of the evil Soviet Union. He was a leader that tried to be every American’s president — not just the partisan base he knew would always support him.
To put this into perspective: left-wing California voted to put Reagan in the White House — twice. This wasn’t exactly a divisive figure at the time, as much as the modern left likes to pretend he was.
But, AOC is trying to rewrite this period of American unity and prosperity. Apparently, The Gipper is a vile racist now. Anthony Brian Logan has more on this below.
