Reality Check: Mayor Pete is NOT a “Moderate”
In a field full of far-left socialists discussing things such as a guaranteed basic income and free healthcare for illegal immigrants, it’s rather easy to come across as a sensible and moderate choice.
This is the strategy that South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg has employed – and it’s one that has worked quite well for him so far. Playing the role of the moderate in a field full of candidates that are absurdly far to the left has enabled Buttigieg to hang around in the polls despite his limited experience and complete lack of name recognition.
With that in mind, it’s important to point out a fact that would have been obvious any other year – Pete Buttigieg is not a moderate.
Despite playing the role of a sensible moderate to separate himself from the crowd and gain traction in the polls, Buttigieg has much more in common with the socialists he’s running against than a true moderate Democrat. In fact, Buttigieg is currently pitching a healthcare plan that is more extreme than Obamacare ever was. This, of course, is just one example of the far-left policies that Buttigieg is trying so hard to hide.
