Rand Paul: Saudi Arabia is NOT America’s Friend
For far too long, the United States has been entirely too lenient on Saudi Arabia, viewing them as an ally rather than a threat. Now that the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been accused of having Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi killed and dismembered, though, it seems as if the Trump administration may finally be ready to start coming down hard on Mohammed bin Salman and his oppressive government.
With so many Middle Eastern countries such as Iran directly opposing the United States, it’s easy to forget that just because Saudi Arabia takes a milder, more diplomatic approach does not mean that they are our friend. Saudi Arabia remains the largest state sponsor of radical Islam in the world today, and Mohammed bin Salman continues to oppress his people and commit all manner of atrocities both within and outside the nation of Saudi Arabia. In spite of all this, the United States has continued to fund and arm Saudi Arabia for many years.
Throughout the time that the United States has been arming Saudi Arabia, Sen. Rand Paul has remained one of most vocal voices of opposition to this action in the United States government. To hear Sen. Paul’s thoughts on the most recent crimes of Mohammed bin Salman and the current state of US-Saudi Arabia relations, be sure to check out the video below.
