Putin is Hoping for the Best Between US and North Korea
The leader of one of the world’s most prominent nuclear powers – Russian President Vladimir Putin – was very hopeful the summit between President Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un would be successful, though he warned that the United States must be willing to offer solid security deals to the rogue nation if President Trump hopes to accomplish denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
Though Putin may have a longstanding reputation of encouraging world chaos to promote Russian influence on the national stage, it’s likely that North Korea’s brand of chaos may be a little too much for the Russian president.
While South Korea and the United States are certainly much bigger enemies of the Kim regime, the possibility of them launching a nuclear weapon at Russia isn’t entirely out of the question given North Korea and Kim Jong-un’s dangerous unpredictability. Like most other world leaders, Putin is hopeful that the summit between Kim Jong-un and President Trump will help stabilize the region and lessen one of the major threats in the world today.
Of course, only time will tell if Kim Jong-un is serious about making a deal that includes denuclearization, or if he is simply playing the opportunity for ulterior motives.
