Prager U: Why No One Trusts the Mainstream Media

In this video, Sharyl Attkisson of PragerU discusses the reasons people in the United States have lost faith in the mainstream media.

She discusses the rise in seemingly simple errors made by mainstream journalists, which lead to confusion and misinformation. Although these mistakes are often corrected, the accurate story rarely receives as much attention as the original.

After giving an overview of the issue, Attkisson goes on to discuss the changes in journalism that have led us to this point. She identifies three factors that have changed the face of journalism.

First, she talks about the blurring of the lines between news and opinion. Second, she talks about biases in journalism that lead reporters to treat some subjects differently than others. Third, she discusses the willingness of so many journalists to make deals with politicians and other figures for their own benefits. All of these issues make the news created less reliable and less objective.

Attkisson wraps up the discussion by considering whether it would be possible for the news in the United States to be fixed. Despite all of these problems, she maintains they are all fixable. Find out why by watching the video below.
