Welp, it’s time to toss what has up until this point been considered classic film and literary material, because leftist pseudo-intellectuals have decided that it’s deeply racist.
An editorial published by The Times is going viral, and now liberals everywhere are leading themselves to believe that the most epic fantasy tale of the modern age is “problematic”. Naturally, this includes both the original JR Tolkien texts as well as the Peter Jackson film adaptations that most are familiar with.
Now, why is a film series that has been concluded for over a decade — and a book series that was published in the 1950s — suddenly being thrown in the same category as Mein Kampf? Well, it’s because of how the fictional race of orcs are portrayed. You know, the wrinkly, disfigured brutes that like to eat people? Yes, those people. Apparently, they represent people of color.
Of course, anyone who has actually read Tolkien understands that there is probably no intentional parallels between his fictional characters and concepts with anything in real life, because the author famously despised allegory in literature. But, don’t let facts get in the way of your moral crusade, leftists…
