Liberals Attack Heisman Trophy Winner Over Tweets from High School
On December 8, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray was awarded the highest honor in college football — the Heisman trophy. It was a monumental evening in the life of Mr. Murray, and it should have been a time for both him and all the fans of college football to celebrate the rewards of hard work and dedication.
Instead of congratulating Murray on his accomplishment, though, one bitter, leftist writer for USA Today decided to take the opportunity to drag this young man down into the mud on one of the greatest nights of his life, publishing a story criticizing Murray for posting “homophobic slurs” on Twitter when he was in high school.
In a matter of hours, the narrative around Kyler Murray’s Heisman victory changed from one of celebration and excitement to one of criticism and controversy. Rather than enjoy the moment, Murray was forced to defend himself against these pointless attacks and issue an apology for meaningless remarks he made almost a decade ago.
This is an example of modern leftism at its finest. No one is safe from the witch hunts, and no misstep is too insignificant to be dragged out into the spotlight. On the night when Kyler Murray was at his highest point – a point he earned through blood, sweat, and tears – those on the left felt it was necessary to bring him down.
