Liberals are Blowing the Movie ‘Black Panther’ Way Out of Proportion

After over a year of suffering one defeat after another, social justice warriors everywhere have finally achieved a major political victory. That major political victory is, of course, the release of the movie Black Panther. If that sounds odd to you, you may find yourself in disagreement with the liberal media that has elevated the movie Black Panther to an almost religious level of importance.

Obviously, the release of Black Panther isn’t a social or political victory at all. It’s a movie. It’s not the first movie to star a majority black cast, and it’s not the first movie to star a black lead. Yet multiple, lengthy pieces have been published in the New York Times and elsewhere touting the release of Black Panther as the most significant thing to happen for black Americans since Martin Luther King.

What’s worse is the level of praise they’ve heaped on the movie’s fictional African country Wakanda. One piece published in the New York Times described Wakanda as a sort of imaginary paradise where black Americans would be “untroubled by the criminal horrors of [their] American existence”.

To hear Ben Shapiro tear apart the idea that Black Panther is some sort of cultural milestone for America, be sure to check out the video below.
